Mehmet Zahit Ateş

Mehmet Zahit Ateş is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye. With almost two decades of experience in financial technology and public-sector innovation, he has led the development and modernization of Turkey’s core payment systems—including the country’s first in-house EFT system and the 24/7 instant payment platform FAST. He also spearheaded projects in high-frequency financial data, IT resilience, and international integration of payment infrastructures. Previously, he served as CIO at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, overseeing major national digital transformation initiatives. Mehmet holds degrees in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Law, and an MBA in Finance from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is also an alumnus of a Harvard Business Review leadership program.
